The armed wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), the Ezzeldin al-Qassam Brigades, has indicated that the four Palestinians killed on Tuesday in an Israeli army bombardment in the Nur Shams refugee camp, in the West Bank city of Tulkarem, were members of the group.
The Ezzeldin al-Qassam Brigades have said that the four “martyrs” were killed in “an assassination operation” carried out by an Israeli army drone and have published photographs of all of them. In them, two appear carrying weapons and a third is wearing a bulletproof vest.
The Israeli army said in a brief statement that it carried out a drone attack against a “terrorist cell” that was planning to place explosive devices in the area, a day after the death of a soldier in a bomb explosion in Nur Shams, an attack claimed by Islamic Jihad.
Israel’s operations in the West Bank and East Jerusalem have intensified following the attacks carried out on October 7 by Hamas and other Palestinian militias, which left around 1,200 dead and nearly 240 kidnapped.
Since then, more than 560 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem by Israeli security forces and in attacks by Israeli settlers, in addition to more than 37,900 deaths in the Gaza Strip as a result of the Israeli military offensive against the enclave.
