September 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Hamas spokesman and political bureau member Osama Hamdan has warned that if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not comply with US President Joe Biden’s plan, hostages will continue to die under Israeli army attacks.
Hamdan has reproached Washington for not doing everything possible to make Netanyahu stick to Biden’s plan, given that he still insists on keeping Israeli troops in the Philadelphia corridor, which separates the Gaza Strip from Egypt. “What is needed is not a new proposal, but to force him to comply with what has been agreed,” he concluded.
“Our position in the Philadelphia corridor is to reject any formula that maintains the presence of the occupation there, the withdrawal of which is part of the previously agreed withdrawal process,” the Hamas spokesman recalled.
“If Washington does not force Netanyahu to withdraw from Philadelphia, it is seeking to save him from the consequences of the murder of prisoners in custody,” Hamdan said, referring to the bodies of six Hamas hostages found last Saturday in a tunnel in the Gaza city of Rafah.
As for these six people, he stressed that they either “died under Israeli shelling, under Israeli gunfire, or during clashes” because continuing the attacks on the Gaza Strip “leads to the killing of prisoners instead of bringing them back.”
The return of these people, he stressed, will only happen with the end of the Israeli attacks and occupation. “The blood of six detainees is better for the world than that of 50,000 Palestinians killed since October 7,” he said.
