September 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Thursday maintained its commitment to US President Joe Biden’s proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and again accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of “continuing to evade his obligation to reach an agreement” after he ruled out the possibility of reaching an agreement imminently.
Jalil al-Haya, who heads the Islamist group’s negotiating team in the negotiations, said he was certain that “the world has already come to the conclusion that the party that is blocking the agreement is the one that is committing massacres and setting conditions” in this regard.
“The policy of military escalation and committing more massacres to free prisoners by force has proven to be a failure. The US administration must abandon its blind bias towards Israel if it wants to reach an agreement and commit to its fulfillment,” he said in statements reported by the Palestinian newspaper ‘Filastin’.
He said Hamas “will not accept an agreement that does not put an end to the aggression and give legitimacy to the Israeli presence in Gaza.” “We support the courageous resistance, we appreciate its heroism and will, and we are committed to standing firm at the negotiating table,” he said.
Al-Haya said Hamas is ready to show “seriousness” and “flexibility” in order to complete the ceasefire agreement. However, he stressed that this agreement must include the cessation of aggression and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, including the Philadelphia corridor and the Rafah crossing.
