Hamas denounces the creation of the 'National Guard' in Israel

March 30 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The spokesman for the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Jihad Taha, has denounced that the creation of the ‘National Guard’ in Israel will serve to further repress the Palestinian people.

Taha has declared that this initiative continues in the same line of “previous racist decisions” as the law promulgated a few days ago that allows raiding Palestinian homes without legal justification, as published by the newspaper ‘Palestine Online’.

This new body has been described as an “extension of the criminal gangs of the settlers” by the head of the Palestinian National Council (PNC), Ruhi Fatu.

The Palestinian government has also criticized on Tuesday the plans to form a “National Guard” in Israel under the orders of the Minister of National Security, the far-right Itamar Ben Gvir, and has warned against “a fascism that does not render accounts” materialized in “militias” .

The creation of a National Guard, defended for months by the Minister of National Security, Ben Gvir, means reinforcing the existing border Police forces with the creation of a body independent of the police authority that is subject to the Ministry of National Security, that is, under his direct command.

Ben Gvir has previously stated that the body – whose job it would be to carry out sensitive operations in the West Bank, such as arrests – would be under the command of the Police. The far-right has tried to materialize this new police force since the signing of the coalition agreement.
