Hamas condemns the construction of new Israeli settlements in the West Bank

March 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has condemned this Saturday the approval for the construction of 1,000 new homes in the Israeli settlements of Efrat and Beitar Illit, in Bethlehem, and Gilo, in East Jerusalem.

“It is the continuation of the aggressive policy of Judaization against our people and our land and a message for those who aspire to security and political agreements with this criminal enemy,” Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem was quoted as saying by the news portal. Palestinian Al Quds.

Qassem thus referred to the recent agreement reached between the Palestinian Authority of President Mahmud Abbas and the Israeli authorities that included a four-month moratorium on the announcement of new construction of Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

The Hamas spokesman thus called on the Palestinian Authority to “leave the path of absurd security coordination that only serves its interests at the expense of our legitimate national rights.”

In addition, Hamas has urged the international community and the UN to assume their responsibility and take effective measures to end the occupation and “its crimes against our people, our land and our holy places.”

On Friday, the Israeli NGO Peace Now denounced an Israeli government agreement for the construction of 1,029 homes in the West Bank: 940 in Efrat and Beitar Illit and another 89 in East Jerusalem.
