MADRID Dec. 25 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Wednesday blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for once again boycotting an agreement to release the hostages after trying to impose new conditions.
Hamas explained in a statement that the agreement was “available” until “the occupation raised new issues and conditions” related to the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip, the ceasefire, the release of Palestinian prisoners and the return of those displaced by the attacks.
“We have shown responsibility and flexibility,” Hamas said. On the other hand, he reproached, this is not the first time that Netanyahu has hindered negotiations to reach a ceasefire and the exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners.
According to some Israeli media, Hamas would have refused to provide a list with the names of the hostages, as demanded by the Israeli Government, which left the negotiating table this Tuesday after more than a week of intense meetings in Doha. , capital of Qatar, with the mediation of the United States and Egypt.
This information, citing Hamas sources, suggests that the Palestinian group would be willing to provide a list with the names of the people who could be released in a first phase after the ceasefire, but not a complete list with the identity of the hundred of hostages still in captivity.
