Halo Infinite received ray tracing on PC after a long wait, will it come to Xbox?

Echoes Within, Season 3 of Halo Infinite, it’s here and it came with a long-awaited novelty: support for ray tracing. In case you don’t remember, the game debuted without such a feature, but 343 Industries promised to make it a reality in the future.

More than a year after the game was released, it is finally a reality. Of course, it is only available for the multiplayer component and can only be enjoyed on computers that meet certain requirements. Given the doubts of the fans, 343 Industries has already revealed whether to fully enable support on Xbox Series X.

Season 3 debuted on PC with ray tracing applied to multiplayer shadows. Gamers with a Radeon RX 6000 series card, GeForce RTX 2000 or higher can play with support enabled.

With this, 343i fulfills one of its promises it made in 2020 and shows that it remains committed to the project. Now, console users wonder if this novelty will also come to Xbox Series X in the future.

Fortunately, there is good news, as the studio confirmed that it is already working to activate ray tracing for shadows on said console. Unfortunately, he did not share more details about it, so we do not know when it will be ready.

343i only confirmed that this is a planned feature in its roadmap, but there is no confirmed release window. Possibly one of the additions planned for next season, but nothing yet

How to activate ray tracing in Halo Infinite for PC?

If your computer meets the requirements we share above, then just follow a few simple steps to turn on ray tracing and enjoy the game in higher detail in the shadows. Below I leave the instructions to do it:

  • Start Halo Infinite
  • Navigate to Settings. The default bindings are F1 on the keyboard and the Menu button on the controller
  • Go to the Video section
  • Find the Ray tracing section and set the Raytraced Sun Shadows option to the preferred setting
