After a long wait, Forge mode for Halo Infinite It is already available in its Beta phase. However, it took a short time for the first controversy related to this novelty to arrive. What happens is that the modality requires a constant connection to the Internet, a detail that many players did not like.
Fans are concerned about this requirement, since previous games in the series did not require it for Forge. They argue that they fear losing hours of progress or having a bad experience if there are problems with the game servers. The connection is required both to create projects and to save them.
This generated a new wave of criticism of 343 Industries and calls for an offline mode. For this reason, the developer decided to talk about it and explain why Forge mode requires a continuous Internet connection in Halo Infinite.
Broooooo imagine getting kicked out of forge because “you lost connection to the game servers”
Hours of progress just vanished ?

@Unyshek @Halo Genuine question—is there a reason Forge has no offline support/functionality? Other than downloading prefabs & maps, there doesn’t seem to be an obvious reason to need an internet connection. Is offline support for Forge possible? If it is, is it ever coming?

One question, why does forge require an online connection? It makes forging with latency extremely frustrating

Why does Forge require an Internet connection?
Forge designer Michael Schorr explained that an Internet connection is required for several reasons. The first of them is that dedicated servers are used, which helps to make all the modality processes faster.
Secondly, Halo Infinite It is not a console exclusive game. Its presence on PC prompts 343i to take extra measures so that users do not tamper with Forge content and files when sharing their creations. This also ensures that data shared and consumed by the community is secure.
The presence of connection relates to various improvements that 343i has planned for the mode in the future. One of your goals is for Forge sessions to remain active even if the original host goes offline.
John Junyszek, community manager for the title, recommended that everyone continuously save their progress so as not to get a nasty surprise. He also confirmed that they have extended the idle session time to 12 hours and that there is an autosave feature that kicks in occasionally when the game freezes.
Despite the explanations and recommendations, part of the community is still dissatisfied with this Forge management. So they want to see an offline mode for that component.
We’ve seen a lot of discussion around why Forge relies on an online connection. Here are some key reasons for this. Thanks for reading and keep the feedback coming! ?⚒️ pic.twitter.com/4HP6P1R304

If you’re Forging, remember “ABS”. Always be saving.
If you have to leave unexpectedly though, we’ve extended the idle session time to 12 hours. We hope this helps! ? https://t.co/c55VMsWbco

We have autosave for crashes! There are times where it doesn’t work, but we’re already working on fixes for some of those instances.https://t.co/EvuA77ljxd
