Guterres highlights that the people of Syria are “in a decisive moment of hope” but also “of great uncertainty”

The Secretary General of the UN, António Guterres, highlighted this Saturday that the people of Syria are “in a decisive moment of hope and history” after the fall of Bashar al Assad’s regime, although it is a time ” of great uncertainty”.

“This is a defining moment, a moment of hope and history, but also one of great uncertainty. Some will try to exploit the situation for their own ends, but it is the obligation of the international community to stand with the people of Syria who have suffered. so much,” Guterres said on his social network account X.

He also added that the future of Syria “must be taken by its people with the support of all of us.”
