Responding to the market need to generate a fast and reliable transmission of data, access to applications and services in the cloud, the GTD company confirmed that it will become an authorized distributor for service companies Starlink, Elon Musk’s satellite internet network.
GTD’s work will focus on Chile, Peru and Colombia to improve access to broadband.
For his part, Starlink would look for “grant greater resilience to companies, users of high demand, and thus shield their operational continuity, with a backup route service; and reach remote or rural sectors with connectivity“.

The two multinationals recognize that “there are great challenges and challenges that must be faced in terms of connectivity both at a public and private level“, thus the alliance is created.
“The objective is to configure a robust terrestrial and submarine fiber optic network
to contribute with resilience to the connectivity service for companies, becoming the authorized distributor of Starlink (“Authorized Starlink Reseller”) in Chile, Peru and
Colombia“, they added.
In the case of Colombia, this would be a ‘revolutionary’ alternative because: “There is a network of low-orbit satellites in the country and now it would have a revolutionary alternative by providing high-speed Internet access in remote areas or areas with limited infrastructure.“.

Starlink began operating in the country in 2022, when the Government granted it permission for satellite use and presence.
Fernando Maturana, General Manager of GTD Colombia, commented that the initiative would contribute to “the creation of a support route for companies, users of high demand, to guarantee their operational continuity and to bring connections to remote or rural sectors that lack easy access to connectivity, promoting the decentralization of development opportunities”.
“The alliance between GTD and Starlink will seek to bring technology closer to people and companies in Latin America, in addition to seeking the technological forefront and the constant improvement of connectivity“, hill.
