Government will review illegal water connections in La Guajira

“There is a very serious situation and it is that, having the water resource, coming from the Ranchería dam, it is not possible for it to reach the communities of La Guajira,” said the Minister of Housing.

After a diagnosis in the area, the Government also found, according to Velasco, that “There are illegal connections along the water conduction line, which are used for activities other than human consumption.”

This situation arises in populations such as Barrancas, Distraction, El Molino, Fonseca, Hatonuevo, La Jagua del Pilar, San Juan del Cesar, Urumita and Villanueva.

Among the irregular uses of the liquid is that the water was being used illegally in different farms, properties, for agricultural use and for animal consumption.

He Minister of Defense, Iván Velásquez, also said that some solutions are being sought, such as the creation of a table to review the problem in greater depth and that legal actions have also been taken against some people who are being accused of appropriating large quantities of this precious liquid.
