Government of Thailand and private sector support Phuket Expo 2028

The Thai government and the private sector they have celebrated an official meeting to discuss their collaboration in supporting Thailand’s bid to host Expo 2028 Phuket Thailand.

The meeting is intended to increase the chances of Thailand gaining the trust of the Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) committee and getting the votes of its 171 member countries.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul outlined several benefits Thailand would gain by hosting the expo. He noted that the international event would attract 4.92 million visitors and generate more than 49.231 million baht in revenue.

It will also enhance the development of Phuket and its surrounding areas, while reinforcing Thailand’s reputation as a medical hub for South and Southeast Asia.

Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, President of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, stated that his agency and its partners are actively promoting Thailand’s candidacy to host the exhibition, both domestically and internationally.

For its part, the Thai Chamber of Commerce recently held a meeting to discuss preparations by the private sector, where major companies also lent their support to public relations initiatives.

According to the BIE assessment, Thailand has met the readiness criteria and is now in the process of campaigning alongside the other four candidate countries: the United States, Serbia, Spain and Argentina. The BIE committee will select and announce the host country in June this year.
