Gotham Knights is an open-world, third-person action RPG set in a DC universe in which Bruce Wayne (Batman) has died. To protect Gotham, four knights of the Batman family have risen: Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin and Red Hood, whose mission is to continue the role of the Dark Knight as protector of the city and face the growing criminal wave that seeks to unleash the chaos. The story of Gotham Knights is original and not connected or related to the Batman: Arkham series.
The Gotham Knights campaign can be completed solo or in two-player co-op. Each of the four knights has their own personality, fighting style, skill tree, gear, and progression system. Red Hood (Jason Todd) has great strength and masters various combat techniques with all kinds of weapons, both classic and latest generation, while Nightwing (Dick Grayson) is a master of acrobatics and an expert in defeating the enemies with the escrima sticks.
“It is not a story set in one night, but about the medium and long-term growth of the hero”, Patrick Redding, creative director of Gotham Knights. “The game offers players a lot of growth and a lot of goal setting in an open world environment that they need to protect and return to again and again. It’s that idea of how this new guard of younger heroes, who aren’t Bruce Wayne or Batman, approach the problem of gearing up and training and preparing for the next big threat they’re going to have to fight.”
Regarding the enemies, the main antagonist is the Court of Owls, a society that has controlled Gotham almost since it was founded. To this organization we must add the factions that are trying to gain control of the city and a series of more classic villains such as Clayface, Mr. Freeze and Harley Quinn.
