Google Stadia denies its closure and reiterates its intention to expand its catalog of games

Google celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Play Store with a new logo and greater rewards with Play Points

Aug. 1 (Portaltic/EP) –

The cloud gaming platform Google Stadia has assured that it does not plan to suspend its services and has announced that it will expand its catalog with “more great games” which will be available soon for all users.

At the beginning of February, Google indicated that it was working hard for the future of Stadia and that news would arrive throughout this year, both in video games and in features of its service.

It did so after Business Insider published that this platform had ceased to be a priority for the company, and that its development would focus more on safeguarding the technology that supports it, to make it available to companies such as Peloton, Capcom or Bungie.

Now, the company has reiterated that it is not going to close Google Stadia soon, after receiving different comments from Twitter users, who questioned what the future of the platform was going to be.

“Google Stadia is not going to shut down. Rest assured we are always working to bring more mainstream games to the platform as well as Stadi Pro,” he tweeted.

It should be noted that the rumors of the closure of Google Stadia have been reinforced by a recent publication of the portal KilledbyGoogle, responsible for collecting the failed projects of the company.

This announced that the cloud gaming platform would close at the end of the summer, as a source close to Google would have commented, which would have transferred its decision to employees and representatives of the retail trade a few days ago.

This same source stressed that the technology did not plan to transfer Stadia services or servers to any “competitor“, an action that would share parallels between the cloud gaming platform and Google Play Music, which was closed and replaced by YouTube Music in February 2021.

With this, the portal pointed out that Stadia would announce its closure to its members between 30 and 60 days in advance, that it would refund the payment of active subscriptions and that it would stop charging for its use in the last month.

However, Google Stadia has also met this information with another publication on Twitter, where it has reminded users of its premium service (StadiaPro) that they can play the title Wavetale at no additional cost until August 1.

In this same tweet, Google Stadia made a parody of the publication with which KilledbyGoogle had started the controversy, to deny this information, although it did not make any new comments about the closure.
