Google Messages is developing a new function with which, through a new ‘Stop’ buttonusers will be able to stop the arrival of RCS advertising messages from companies, in order to stop receiving unwanted spam content.

Companies usually resort to sending messages with the rich communication service (RCS) protocol that offer messaging applications like the one from the technology giant, as another way to maintain contact with customers, whether to share relevant information about your products or commercial operations or for send advertising content.

However, on some occasions this communication channel may cause users to receive unwanted spam messages sent by companies, which can result in an annoying experience.

In this sense, technology has begun to develop a new function with which users will be able to suspend the arrival of spam in Google Messagesby pressing a ‘Stop’ button that will be displayed under the advertising message.

This is a developing feature identified in the Google Messages beta version v20241125_04, as shared by Google application analyst AssembleDebug through AndroidAuthority.

Specifically, this option will be displayed for RCS Business messagesthat is, those messages sent by verified companies in Google Messages. Thus, when doing Click the ‘Stop’ button The user will automatically send a message with said word and, after that, the subscription to that RCS Business chat will be cancelled.

In this way, users will be able to choose to stop the arrival of unwanted advertising messages, without having to block the company’s contact or report spam messages that are received.

However, if they wish to receive advertising messages from the company in question again, users You can deactivate the ‘Stop’ function at any time. To do this, they will only have to send the word ‘Home’ in the same chat RCS commercial.

Likewise, the aforementioned media has clarified that the ‘Stop’ function is linked to phone number from the user and not to the device, therefore, in case of changing ‘smartphone’, spam messages from said company will remain suspended likewise. With all this, the new ‘Stop’ button is a function still in development, so, at the moment, it is not available for Google Messages users.
