Google has announced a sales agreement with the company Squarespace of its service Domainswhich allows you to acquire and host your web domains, a transaction that it expects to close in the third quarter of 2023.
Google Domains is a domain registration service that dates back to 2014 -although it came out of beta 2022- and that offers more than 300 extensions new and popular top-level TLDs. These include .com, .net, .dev, .studio, or .tech.
These start at a price of 7 euros per year and have functions such as mail forwarding, privacy protection, DNSSEC specifications, WHOIS privacy, mail forwarding with up to one hundred aliases and Google two-step verification, among others. advantages
Squarespace has announced the purchase agreement that it has formalized with Google to acquire Google Domains and that it will acquire the assets associated with the business of this Google service in a purchase that “includes approximately 10 million domains” and distributed among millions of customers, as they have qualified it’s a statement.
From the organization that has bought Domains, they have pointed out that their main priority is “provide an integrated experience purchasing and domain management”, as well as offering other tools that your customers may need “to develop their online experience.
Under the terms of the agreement, Squarespace will respect the renewal prices of all existing Google Domains customers for at least 12 months after the transaction, which is expected to close in Q3 2023.
This company will also be responsible for providing additional incentives to encourage Google Domains customers to create their websites with the tool that it develops and adopt other offers of this ‘site builder’.
