Google extends the deadline to convert the Stadia controller into a Bluetooth controller until December 31, 2025

Dec. 12 (Portaltic/EP) –

Google has announced that it has once again extended the deadline established to transform the Stadia controller into a compatible Bluetooth controller for other platforms for another year, that is, until December 31, 2025.

The company closed its cloud gaming service in early 2023, a decision the company had made when not getting the number of users nor the development that had been initially proposed, as announced at the end of September 2022.

Despite the cessation of the streaming gaming platform, after just over three years of activity, part of its infrastructure was maintained for Google Cloud and third-party companies that were interested in maintaining Stadia technology.

Shortly after this announcement, it made a self-service tool available to users that would enable Bluetooth connections with the Stadia controller. Thus, this controller could be connected and used with any gaming equipment, whether it was a smartphone, a PC or a television.

With the closure of Stadia, Google first indicated that players had until December 31, 2023 to make this conversion, a deadline that it extended at the end of that year until December 31 of the following year, 2024.

With just a few days left until this deadline, he shared on your website which can be updated to Bluetooth mode, check the controller mode and check for updates to this controller one year later than expected, that is, until December 31, 2025.

It should be remembered that, to unlock the controller, Bluetooth Mode must be activated to access the page enabled by Google for the configuration of the controller, as well as have the version of Google Chrome 108 or later and the cable to connect the controller to the PC.

When choosing the ‘Switch to Bluetooth Mode’ option, you must click on the ‘Get Started’ option, accept the terms and conditions, and allow the browser to verify the driver. Next, you must click on the button ‘Connect’.

To unlock the remote control, you must first disconnect the cable and then turn it off. With the controller already turned off, you must reconnect the cable and simultaneously press the button with three dots located in the upper left part of the accessory.

After pressing both the three-dot button and the Wizard button, the ‘A’ key and the ‘Y’ key at the same time, it is necessary to download the system update from the Bluetooth mode and, once this process is complete, the controller can be disconnected from the cable to continue using it outside of Stadia.
