Google Colab to offer AI-powered scheduling features

Google Colabthe platform for writing and running Python directly from the browser, will soon integrate artificial intelligence features driven by the PaLM 2 language model.

The technology company plans to implement the Codey family of modelsbuilt with PaLM2, in Colab, to take advantage of the performance improvements it offers in programming tasks on this platform.

PaLM 2 is the language model that Google presented in the last edition of its annual Google I/O 2023 developer event, which improvement in logic and reasoning thanks to his training in a wide variety of scientific and mathematical subjects. He has also trained with texts in over 100 languages ​​and has programming capabilities.

Specifically, with Codey, Colab users will be able to access a programming assistant which completes the code and generates natural language code. This function will first be available to users in the United States, as Google has qualified in its official blog.

Codey will help users to generate “large blocks of code, write entire functions from comments and prompts” with the aim that the user can focus on important tasks and not on the repetition of code.

In addition, Colab will have with a chatbot, which will allow you to ask specific questions about the work that is being programmed, and obtain answers in natural language. For example: “How do I import data from Google Sheets?”.

Google has reported that access to these features will be gradual, first for paid version users and later for free. It also plans to take them to other geographical areas.
