Google is preparing an adjustment for the ‘Memory Saver’ feature of the Chrome browser, with the aim of allowing the user to configure the inactivity time of the tabs to suit the needs of their equipment.
Chrome has in its ‘Performance’ settings a memory saving option, which if activated, frees up the memory of the tabs that the user is not using, putting them to sleep. “This provides more computing resources to active tabs and other applications,” helping the browser work faster, as the company explains in its help page.
A new feature in testing allows you to set the amount of time that should elapse before the browser dismisses the tab and frees up memory, with options ranging from 1 minute to 12 hours, as shared by the user leopeva64 and collected Android Police.
In this way, with this new control which is already available as a ‘flag’ in the canary version of Chrome, the user will be able to adjust the suspension of the tabs to the performance of their computer, instead of depending on a single default value.
