Google has announced support for billing alternatives in your Play Store digital storea change introduced to comply with the Digital Markets Law of the European Union, which will also mean a reduction in the charging of fees to developers.
The app developers present in the Play Store may show a payment system different from the one offered by Google in its digital store for users who are in the European Economic Area. This novelty applies to apps that are not video games.
In order to incorporate a different payment platform, Google details that these developers must guarantee protection measures, as stated it’s a statement. And it confirms that the rates and conditions for using its platform will be maintained, although with some changes.
Specifically, the company states that will reduce by 3% the rate that the developer must pay when the user makes a payment through an alternative billing system, which for 99% of developers translates into the payment of the 12 percent or less and not 15 percent or less, as has been the case up to now.
Google seeks with this measure to comply with Digital Markets Lawand states that in the future it plans to extend it to video game application developers for payments made by users in the European Economic Area.
