Golf: Foxconn TLPGA Players Championship 2025 returns with new $1.5 million prize pool

The Taiwan LPGA (TLPGA), in collaboration with title sponsor Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), is pleased to announce the 2025 Foxconn TLPGA Players Championship. This second edition will feature top professional golfers competing for a record prize pool of $1.5 million, a 50% increase from last year and a new benchmark for the TLPGA Tour.

The 2025 Foxconn TLPGA Players Championship features a 50% increase in total purse, reaching a record US$1.5 million, the highest in the history of the TLPGA-sanctioned Tour. The tournament returns to Orient Golf & Country Club for the second year.

The multi-day tournament will run from February 27 to March 2 at Taiwan’s Orient Golf & Country Club, where the event opened in 2024. For the first time, the TLPGA-sanctioned tournament will receive live, broadcast international coverage in Japan. on Sky A, as well as VL Sports and Sportcast Sports in Taiwan.

Hit very high, for a perfect swing

The Foxconn TLPGA Players Championship 2025 has attracted more than 140 international players since registration opened in December 2024, a testament to the tournament’s growing prestige.

The Japanese Haruka Kawasaki, current champion, and the Taiwanese Yu-Sang Hou, second last year, lead the classification. Foxconn-sponsored rising star Chia-Yen Wu, 20, currently ranked in the top three in Taiwan, will compete in the competition for the second year.

Former world number one Jiyai Shin of South Korea will make her long-awaited return to Taiwan after a seven-year absence, as a formidable rival following her recent triumph at the ISPS Handa Australian Open.

This year, more than ten elite players ranked among the top 100 in the world will participate in the championship.

Following impressive performances by Japanese players last year, the Foxconn TLPGA Players Championship 2025 will see more than 15 JLPGA Tour players compete for the trophy. The final list of players will be announced on January 17, 2025.
