One of the news of the week was undoubtedly the entry of inflation in Colombia into a scenario of stagnation, in which although it still marks setbacks compared to the historical levels it reached in 2023, the force of its fall is increasingly smaller. , while this trend is expected to last at least two months.

The first thing to say on this topic is that according to Dane, the Consumer Price Index stood at 7.16% in the month of May, a figure that can be read in two ways, since on the one hand it marks a decline compared to 12.36% of the same period last year and on the other it remains at the same level as what was achieved in April.

To explain this stagnation in another way, it must be said that in February it entered the 7% range, (7.74% to be precise) and since then it has remained there to date with 7.36% in March; and 7.16% in April, repeating this value in the May reports. With this it is clear that inflation is falling, only with less force and this is a point on which experts demand close attention.
