This morning we warned the owners of a Gigabyte motherboard that at least 270 models from the manufacturer they had serious security problems that could only be fixed with a firmware update.
This update is what the company has already begun to launch in the form of BIOS in its Beta version, so that, if we really give serious consideration to this security issue, the risks might be worth it.
Actually, although a BIOS in Beta version usually brings the possibility of being unstable attached to its name, in this case we should not encounter problems of this nature, since it is a BIOS update that It has changes in the verification of signatures, in addition to applying limits on where updates can be downloaded.
Undoubtedly, the advice that we gave this morning continues to be applied if we do not want to install a Beta version of the BIOS, because as we mentioned, until there is a version of the BIOS that we trust to install, the safest thing to do is disable app center download and install feature from UEFI of these GIGABYTE motherboards, as well as setting a password to access the BIOS.
