Ghostwire: Tokyo is a first person action game set in the Shibuya region of Tokyo, a city besieged and invaded by paranormal threats that after a series of supernatural events has seen 99% of the population disappear. The only hope of recovering and saving the city rests with Akito, who as soon as the story begins suffers a fatal accident. However, his life is saved when the spirit of KK, a detective and demon hunter, merges with his body to pursue his own goals: to destroy Hannya, the visible face of the supernatural invasion that is ravaging Tokyo.
After merging with KK, Akito gains the ability to channel powers through the Ethereal Weave, a series of hand movements that allow him to manipulate the ether to confront the Visitors, the name given to the supernatural creatures that have invaded Tokyo. This supernatural energy is divided into three elements (wind, water and fire) and each of them is suitable for different enemies and ranges. In addition to learning how to use the Ethereal Weave, Akito must come to terms with KK so that both can achieve their respective goals.
As the story progresses, players will discover why Akito survived the demise of Tokyo’s population and how he gained the power to confront the otherworldly creatures that have taken over the city. For those interested in learning more about Ghostwire: Tokyo, a prelude in the form of a visual novel that sets the stage for the events of the main game is available for free.
For GhostWire: Tokyo veterans, the news comes with the free update The Spider’s Thread. Its main attraction is a new challenge-type mode in which players have to overcome a challenge of 30 stages, chosen from 130 hand-created levels, with the goal of reaching the end. Advancing through the levels and overcoming the challenges will help you earn upgrades to make your character stronger. In case of being defeated before reaching the end, you will have to start from the beginning, but keeping a part of the improvements.
The Spider’s Thread update also adds new zones, quests, abilities, talismans, and enemies, as well as expanded story cinematics for greater plot insight.
