Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Review Is this remake worth it?

GHOST TRICK_04.jpg

Each of the characters has a unique and exaggerated identity. A loyal pet no matter what the threat, a detective so enthusiastic and determined she’s naive, and assassins who are literally always one step ahead.

These personalities not only shape an interesting mystery; They are also part of the gameplay, because by understanding the obsessions or fears of each one, you can guide them to fulfill your wishes.

I’m not going to lie: I’d love to see a TV or movie adaptation of this story, because that’s what held me captive.

looks better than ever

This version of Ghost Trick is not a simple port, it is a remake made with the RE Engine, the same graphics engine with which Capcom has made Resident Evil since 2017, Devil May Cry 5 and Street Fighter 6.

The character design, animations and settings are the same as the original game, but accentuated thanks to RE Engine technology and current consoles.

Ghost Trick has an excellent script, memorable characters, and unique art design.

You can enjoy either the remastered soundtrack or the original Nintendo DS versions. Neither is the wrong choice, because the music pieces in this game have always been excellent.

conclusions

Capcom gives us a second chance to enjoy this gem. If you played the original Nintendo DS version, you won’t find any significant extras here, except for special materials (concept art and melodies) that you unlock as you progress through the campaign.

If you missed this game, it deserves to be given a good chance. It’s a great story, saturated with dark humor and a terrific enigma with a surprising ending that will make you laugh and cry a little bit.

I hope this version is commercially successful enough for Capcom to consider extending this saga. Ghost Trick has a very high potential to become a franchise as valuable as Phoenix Wright.
