When Ghost of Tsushima went on sale, it shipped 2.4 million copies in three days and became the fastest-selling new PS4 license in the console’s history. Other games like God of War (2018) and Spider-Man have surpassed that figure, but both are based on known intellectual property. In November 2020 Ghost of Tsushima reached 5 million copies sold and the last time the figure was updated was last January, when the game had more than 8 million units. Half a year later there are almost 10 million copies.
Ghost of Tsushima is available on PS4 and PS5 thanks to the Director’s Cut, which includes the original content along with an expansion that continues the story of Jin Sakai on Iki Island, a new location, and a series of graphic improvements (4K and up to 60FPS). Whoever has a PS5 and the original game must go through the box or settle for backward compatibility. There is no free upgrade, just support for Game Boost or the option to pay to upgrade your copy of the base game or Director’s Cut from PS4 to PS5.
On the other hand, the success of Ghost of Tsushima has been enough for Sony to decide to go ahead with a film directed by Chad Stahelski, director of John Wick. The tape was announced in 2021 and since then it has only transpired that its screenwriter is Takashi Doscher (Blue, Only). There is no actor for Jin Sakai yet. And as for Sucker Punch Productions, it is unknown what he works for. We only know that there is no Infamous or Sly Cooper game in development.
