BERLIN, Aug. 18 (DPA/EP) –
The German Armed Forces have sent a plane to Mali this Thursday with which to resume the rotation of the military deployed in the framework of the UN peacekeeping mission (MINUSMA), after the Malian military junta repeatedly refused to grant permits flight to Germany.
The board suspended these rotations on July 14, but has finally given permission for a German plane to take off with 88 soldiers for MINUSMA and another five for the EU mission (EUTM-Mali), according to sources cited by the agency. dpa news. The plan is for this aircraft to return to Germany with more troops.
The German government announced last week that it was suspending its operations in the African country after its authorities repeatedly denied flight permits to military aircraft, a key aspect to guarantee issues such as troop rotation.
France also put an end to its ‘Barkhane’ mission on Monday, after receiving all kinds of accusations from the Malian junta, which has even denounced an alleged collusion of the French forces with terrorist organizations.
