German Police reinforce security in Berlin for a Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball game

The German Police reported this Monday that the security deployment has been reinforced in the capital on the occasion of the basketball match this week between ALBA Berlin and the Israeli Maccabi of Tel Aviv, whose fans of the football team were involved. in altercations a few weeks ago in the Netherlands.

According to the German security forces, guaranteeing the safety of the Israeli team will be given the highest priority by the authorities, who from Wednesday to Friday will install controls in the vicinity of the Maccabi hotel and also around the sports hall where the meeting will be held.

Likewise, the Police will partially close traffic on several streets and sidewalks in the capital, with prohibitions on vehicle parking. Residents of affected areas will even have to identify themselves to access certain places. In addition, the authorities recommend that those who do not attend the game not frequent the designated areas.

These decisions come after a few weeks ago there were incidents with fans of Israeli teams in European cities, such as Amsterdam and Berlin itself. From Israel they denounced what happened as evidence of the rise of anti-Semitism on the European continent in the midst of the war in the Middle East.
