German police arrest suspected ISIS terrorist in the middle of the Euro Cup

The German Police have arrested an alleged member of the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS for its acronym in English) which, after entering the Central European country in 2022, was prepared to carry out attacks, reported the Attorney General it’s a statement.

Iraqi citizen Mahmoud A. was detained near the German city of Stuttgart (southeast) by agents of the Federal Criminal Police Office with the support of their colleagues from Baden-Württemberg and Esslingen am Neckar.

The accused is suspected of belonging to a terrorist organization abroad.

The Prosecutor’s Office indicated that the suspect joined the Islamic State in Iraq no later than May 2016 and who subsequently acted as a combatant for the organization.

The accused appeared on Wednesday before the investigating judge of the Federal Court of Justice, who issued the arrest warrant and ordered his entry into preventive detention.
