The Gaza Strip Civil Defense reported Wednesday that 500 Palestinian families “have been eliminated” from civil registers due to the continuous bombings by the Israeli Army and that it has not managed to find any survivors of them, and that there are already almost 38,300 dead since the beginning of the attacks on October 7.
“500 Palestinian families have been removed from the civil registry due to the occupation’s bombings. We have not found survivors of all the families whose deletion has been documented so far,” the Documentation Committee of the aforementioned body said, according to the Palestinian daily ‘Filastin’.
He also stressed that, despite the large amount of data and documents lost due to the destruction caused by the bombings and the “large number of displacements, they are working to preserve them in paper form and that they are being updated despite the war.
The Israeli army launched an offensive against the Strip following the attacks on October 7, which left some 1,200 dead and nearly 240 kidnapped. The Hamas-controlled Gaza authorities have reported nearly 38,300 dead, in addition to more than 560 Palestinians killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in operations by Israeli forces or in attacks carried out by settlers.
