They say the attack has hit a tent camp in Al Mauasi, a “safe zone” near Rafah.

The authorities of the Gaza Strip, controlled by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), reported this Tuesday the death of more than 20 people in a new Israeli attack against a camp for displaced people west of the city of Rafah, in the border with Egypt.
According to information collected by the Palestinian newspaper ‘Filastin’, linked to the Islamist group, the attack was launched against a tent camp in Al Mauasi, declared a “safe area” by the Israeli authorities, and has resulted in 21 dead.
Following this, the press office of the Gaza authorities on Tuesday raised the number of deaths to more than 70 in bombings carried out during the last 48 hours against “camps for displaced people in areas declared safe” located to the west of the city of Rafa.
Thus, he stressed that “the Israeli occupation Army has committed three crimes against humanity by killing 72 displaced people during the last 48 hours by bombing tents of displaced people” and added that Israel “has the deliberate intention to continue committing more massacres against civilians and displaced people who have fled the horror of the murders”.
“This confirms the insistence of the occupation when it comes to continuing to commit genocide with premeditation and treachery, in a clear message of defiance to the international courts and in a message to all countries,” they noted, before calling on “the countries of the free world” that “condemn these brutal massacres.
Along these lines, they have asked the International Criminal Court (ICC) to open proceedings against the “war criminals” of Israel and the United States, before insisting on the need for the international community to “put pressure on the occupation to stop the genocidal war.” ” and to reopen the Rafá border crossing for the delivery of humanitarian aid.
Israel launched its assault on Rafah on May 6, shortly after rejecting a ceasefire proposal put forward by Egypt and Qatar that had been backed by Hamas, which led to the suspension of humanitarian operations through the border crossing. Tensions have been on the rise since then due to the intensification of the Israeli offensive despite international calls and an order from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to stop its attacks.
The raid on Rafah is part of the offensive launched by Israel against Gaza after the attacks carried out on October 7 by Hamas, which left nearly 1,200 dead and about 240 kidnapped, according to Israeli authorities. The Israeli offensive has so far caused nearly 36,100 Palestinian deaths, according to Gazan authorities, to which are added more than 510 deaths at the hands of Israeli forces and in attacks carried out by settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
