“The Israeli occupation has deliberately liquidated the health system in Rafah and in the north,” said the spokesman for the Gaza Ministry of Health, Ashraf al Qidra, who stressed that “there is no health capacity to deal with the successive massacres.” in Rafah and northern Gaza.
Thus, he highlighted that “the Israeli occupation deceives the world by saying that the Al Mauasi area is safe and has committed horrible massacres there”, while calling for “an end to Israeli threats to medical institutions and teams” for part of the Israeli Army.
“We request the entry of field hospitals and medical equipment to Rafah and northern Gaza,” he said, while reiterating the need to guarantee the establishment of “safe corridors” for the “immediate entry” of medical aid and fuel. to guarantee medical operations.
On the other hand, the Palestinian Ministry of Health has indicated in another statement on its Telegram account that patients and health workers face “serious difficulties” to reach the Emirati Red Crescent Maternity Hospital in the face of “constant attacks.” against the city.
The Gazan authorities already reported on Tuesday that a field hospital and a clinic in the city of Rafah had been left “out of service” due to the “barbaric Israeli incursion” into the city, which has caused the flight of nearly one million Palestinians, most of them previously displaced from other parts of the enclave.
The shortage of medical facilities poses a threat to the health of Palestinians sick and injured as a result of Israeli attacks, including the one carried out late on Sunday against a displaced persons camp in Rafah, an event that left at least 45 dead and nearly 250 injured, according to Gazan authorities.
Israel launched its offensive against Rafah on May 6, shortly after rejecting a ceasefire proposal presented by Egypt and Qatar that had been backed by Hamas, which led to the suspension of humanitarian operations through the border crossing. Tensions have been on the rise since then due to the intensification of the Israeli offensive despite international calls and an order from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to stop its attacks.
