Garmin has presented its new inReach Messenger Satellite Communicatorwhich provides global two-way messaging and the option to activate an interactive SOS warning, with autonomy for up to 28 days.
inReach Messenger ensures communication at all times, whether through the mobile coverage when available, or through the Iridium satellite network completely comprehensive. Its use, in addition, is combined with the Garmin Messenger ‘app’ to write text messages or create group messages.
This communicator features a compact form factor and is waterproofwith an IPX7 rating, and inReach Messenger’s internal rechargeable lithium battery provides up to 28 days duration.
This communicator also works as an external battery for the mobile, to which it transfers a “safety charge” sufficient to send a personalized text message, as reported by the company in a statement.
The dedicated SOS button that incorporates inReach Messenger and the Garmin Messenger ‘app’ allow you to quickly declare an SOS in case of an emergency. Once alerted, inReach Messenger will send a distress signal to Garmin’s IERCC, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
inReach Messenger record the route traveled every ten minutes. In the event the user gets lost, TracBack will take them back the way they traveled or in a straight line to the last recorded waypoint. It also allows you to check weather alerts and request weather forecasts for the current location or another marked in the itinerary.
