The G7 foreign ministers have reaffirmed this Monday their “strong support” for Ukraine, which also involves “intensifying, coordinating and applying” the sanctions against Russia, a country that they have demanded to “immediately” withdraw all its troops from Ukrainian territory .

The ministers dedicated one of the sessions of the meeting organized in Japan, in which the European Union also participates, to talk about Ukraine. About a hundred minutes of forum in which the attendees agreed that “it is important to maintain unity”, according to a statement released by the Japanese Government.

Said unit also involves preventing “sanctions evasion”, looking for possible gaps in the application of international punishments and preventing weapons from third countries from reaching Russia for later use in the war in Ukraine.

In addition, for the G7, the nuclear rhetoric of Russian President Vladimir Putin is “unacceptable”, which is why they have also condemned the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, a key partner of the Kremlin since the start of the invasion more than one year old

The head of Japanese diplomacy, Yoshimasa Hayashi, as host, reiterated the group’s “firm” rejection of any initiative aimed at “changing the ‘status quo’ by force”, for the sake of “an international order based on respect for the rule of law”, reports the Kiodo news agency.
