At the IFA 2024 trade fair stand taking place these days in Berlin we were able to learn about the latest developments in AVM devices, but there is also room for its next operating system for routers and other devices “FRITZ!OS 8”.
FRITZ!OS 8 will focus on making the company’s routers and network devices even easier to use, with a new, clearer overview panel that is integrated with smart home devices and functions. Functions such as connection status are now displayed on the home page.
It is now easier to establish a VPN connection using QR codes, and it also allows you to send IPV6 data via WireWard.
The initial setup of FRITZ!Boxes has been simplified with a new user interface. It was already easy to do this with FRITZ!OS 7, but now it is even easier. You can also define custom names and icons for the devices displayed in the Mesh overview section.
You can also see at a glance the Internet data usage of each device connected to the network, whether via WiFi or Ethernet cable, from the FRITZ!OS 8 Online Monitor.
FRITZ!OS 8 is available for some users via their FRITZ! Lab test program with functions integrated in FRITZ!OS 7.9.
