Sony is giving away free PlayStation Plus trials to some PS5 players
Through a post on the reddit forums, the user BusNo1748 shared a finding that caught the attention of everyone. Specifically, he commented that, when he turned on his PlayStation 5 console, he received a notification informing him that he could redeem a Free trial of 14 days of the subscription service.
The player explains that he received the message shortly after his previous PS Plus Premium membership expired, although he confesses that he claimed the trial 2 days later because he didn’t see the notification.
The reddit user took to the forums to ask other community members if they also received a free code that would allow them to claim a trial of 2 weeks PlayStation Plus. Many answered no, but others said they also got a gift code.
So it seems that Sony has started giving away free PlayStation Plus Premium trials to select players. It appears the lucky ones were selected completely at random, so there’s no guarantee everyone will receive a code.
While it is unknown what the eligibility parameters are, it appears that Sony is offering these freebies to existing subscribers whose memberships have just expired and who are playing from a console. PS5This seems like a strategy to encourage users to return to the service.
Either way, gamers better check their inbox next time they fire up their PlayStation 5. With any luck, they’ll be one of the lucky ones who can claim this freebie and get 14 free days of PS Plus Premium.
But tell us, do you know anyone who received a 2-week trial? Let us know in the comments.
