Free Fire alters shotguns and submachine guns in the new patch

Free Fire: claim loot with the redemption codes of January 4, 2023

You need to review your combat tactics in freefire. The new Garena patch has meant that shotguns and submachine guns do not have the same capabilities. You will have to adjust to the new statistics that we will share.

According to the developer, “By looking at the numbers, we learned that Shotguns are much more powerful than SMGs at both close range and medium-close range, making the former more effective in most scenarios. This has resulted in a greater preference for shotguns over SMGs and we are here to change that.”

Thus, Garena decided to apply reductions in the range of the most popular shotguns of freefire and add some reload speed and accuracy to balance games.

Changes to Free Fire shotguns

M1887: Range -15%, reload speed +10%.

The M1887 was capable of taking out a player with 2 shots at short-medium range, making it much stronger than other weapon types. Our numbers show that the M1887 is widely used at close range, which is the ideal configuration for the weapon. So, in this patch, we’re making sure that the M1887 is still strong at close range but less ideal at longer range. However, the improved reload speed will give the weapon user more room to get back into the fight.

Charge Buster: Range -15%, charger +1.

Previously, the Charge Buster could reach longer distances than many SMGs, so with its chargeability, it made it the perfect weapon when waiting around the corner for a short-range surprise attack. This strategy was difficult to counter and had a negative impact on match experiences. Therefore, we reduced its effective range and damage during medium-close combat. However, the increased magazine capacity will increase error tolerance, giving the wielder a better chance of taking out enemies.

M1014-I, M1014-II and M1014-III: Range -12%, Accuracy +20%.

The upgraded versions of the M1014 have high effective range and damage, making them the optimal choice among almost all shotguns and SMGs. While we’ve reduced its range in this patch, the M1014-III is still one of the longest-range shotguns around. With an improvement in accuracy, the M1014 is expected to maintain its competitive edge despite reduced range.

Changes to Free Fire SMGs

  • MP40: Damage +8%.
  • Bizon: Damage +10% and ease of use optimized.
  • Thompson: Damage +4%.
