This weekend some 30 similar demonstrations are planned throughout the country, including the cities of Lille, Marseille, Nantes and Strasbourg. He government spokesman, Olivier Vérancriticized the organizations for calling demonstrations “in large cities that have not yet recovered from the riots…”.
In Strasbourg, the march called by various left-wing organizations has revised its route as a result of a prefectural decree that prohibits passage through the historic center of the city.
Also in Marseille, following the riots and due to the large number of tourists in the city centre, the police prefect issued an order prohibiting any demonstration or protest gathering from 10:00 a.m. to midnight on this Saturday. However, a rally was organized.
