MADRID Nov. 30 () –
The French president denounced this Friday in a call with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, the escalation promoted by Russia within the framework of the invasion of Ukraine and has promised to continue cooperating with the Government of the latter country with the same intensity and during the time that is necessary.
“The increase in cooperation with North Korea and the irresponsible rhetoric that accompanies it are part of a logic of unacceptable escalation on the part of Russia, which continues to apply a revisionist, brutal and imperialist plan, violating the sovereign rights of Ukraine and the Charter of the United Nations”, includes a note published by the Elysée.
The French Government has also disdained the “indiscriminate” nature of the Russian attacks, which have not only intensified on the battlefield but also “against the cities, civilian population and energy infrastructure of Ukraine”, claiming that they are “in “at stake” both the security of the country and its people, and that of the European continent.
However, former President Nicolas Sarkozy has added, this logic of escalation “will not prevail over (the) determination” of the French authorities to “continue helping Ukraine as intensely and for as long as necessary, so that it can exercise its right to Russia’s self-defense and war of aggression can be defeated.
For his part, Zelensky has applauded the willingness of Macron’s Executive to redouble its commitment to the defense of Ukraine and its citizens.
“I thank France for its willingness to help urgently reinforce Ukraine’s air defense, as well as its comprehensive support for defense and the accelerated process for the transfer of Mirage aircraft,” the Ukrainian president said in a publication on his account on the social network X after “a detailed debate” with its French counterpart.
In this regard, Zelensky has also highlighted “the importance of Ukraine’s invitation to NATO, the expansion of long-range capabilities – not only as a vital measure to counter Russian aggression but also to bring peace closer – and the continuous preparation and equipping of Ukrainian brigades, both in allied territories and through the development of France’s idea of carrying out training missions within its territory.
