April 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Government of France has issued a travel alert due to “the risk of military escalation” in the Middle East to ask French citizens to “imperatively” refrain from traveling to Iran, Lebanon, Israel and the Palestinian Territories.
The notice, adopted after an emergency meeting chaired by the French Foreign Minister, Stéphane Séjourné, expressly urges not to travel “in the coming days”, without alluding to the possibility of an attack by Iran in retaliation for the Israeli bombing of its Consulate in the capital of Syria.
The French Government has also decided to evacuate all family members of diplomatic personnel from Iran and paralyze any type of official visit to the four territories indicated in this alert.
Iran's top leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, have vowed to “punish” Israel for the attack on its Consulate in Damascus, which led to the deaths of several members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
