Four suspected terrorists who “operated in the Sahel region” arrested in Algeria

Algerian authorities have arrested four suspected terrorists “operating in the Sahel region” in an operation carried out “through the efficient use of intelligence information” in the province of Tamanrasset, located in the south of the African country.

The Algerian Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the suspects were Sekuni Ibrahim, alias ‘Taklu’; Laalui Mohamed, alias ‘Ueda’; El Aalui Ahmed, alias ‘El Jatab’; and Terkzi Ahmada, alias ‘Didi’; without giving details about the group to which the suspects belong.

He also stressed that another “terrorist” identified as Okba Kunta Sidamar, alias ‘Abú Nacer’, has turned himself in to the authorities with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, ammunition and a radio, also without providing further details on the case.

“These operations demonstrate, once again, the effectiveness of the approach adopted by the Army and the efforts made by our Armed Forces on the ground to overcome the scourge of terrorism in our country and establish security and tranquility throughout the national territory,” he added.
