Four people killed in an attack on a camp for displaced people in southeastern Niger

Nov. 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least four people have been killed and numerous homes have been set on fire in an attack carried out on Wednesday night by unidentified armed people on a camp for internally displaced persons in southeastern Niger.

Sources quoted by the Nigerien news portal Actu Niger have indicated that the attack was carried out in the Ngagala Peulh camp, located near the town of N’Guigmi, in the province of Diffa, with no claim of responsibility for now.

The Diffa region, bathed by Lake Chad, is the scene of relatively frequent attacks by Boko Haram and its offshoot, the Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA).

The African country also faces the terrorist threat in the west at the hands of the affiliates of Al Qaeda and the Islamic State in the Tillabéri and Tahoua regions, located in the “three borders” area – along with Mali and Burkina Faso Faso–.
