At least four people, including two children, died this Thursday due to the sinking of a boat carrying several migrants off the coast of the Greek island of Samos, located in the Aegean Sea, as confirmed by the authorities.

The Greek Coast Guard has indicated that four bodies have so far been recovered at the scene of the incident and has specified that they are two children and two women, before adding that another 16 people have been rescued alive in the area.

Likewise, he pointed out that the inflatable boat in which these people were traveling had hit some rocks in the northern part of the island, causing it to sink, according to the newspaper ‘Ta Nea’. It is currently unknown how many people were on board.

The event takes place just three days after the death of eight people, including six children, in a similar event off the coast of Samos. The Coast Guard also rescued 36 people after the incident.
