() — In the last 48 hours, four migrants, including a baby, drowned in the Rio Grande River along the US-Mexico border, according to a social media post by a spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety.
“In the last 48 hours, the @TxDPS Tactical Marine Unit (TMU) recovered 4 deceased bodies, including a baby, from the Rio Grande in #EaglePass” the tweet said.
According to the spokesman, the United States Border Patrol requested this Saturday help in relation to a possible drowning of a baby.
“TMU Operators and @MyFWC They deployed 2 airboats and observed multiple bodies floating along the river,” the tweet read.
A woman and a baby were found without vital signs, according to the tweet.
“An adult female and a female infant were unresponsive,” the tweet continued. “TMU operators immediately performed chest compressions on both of them. Medical personnel arrived on scene and transported them both to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center, where they were both pronounced deceased.”
Two other people, who survived, were turned over to authorities, according to the spokesperson.
A day later, the body of a man was found in the river and, in a separate incident, the body of a woman was also found on Monday.
“The identities of the deceased remain unknown, since none had identification documents,” the tweet read.
