Four Israeli soldiers killed in fighting in northern Gaza

MADRID Jan. 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Four Israeli soldiers have been killed and six more have been wounded in fighting this Saturday morning in the northern Gaza Strip, as confirmed by the Israeli Armed Forces. Two of the six injured are in serious condition.

Among the deceased is reservist sergeant Alexander Fedorenko, 37, a truck driver from the 79th Battalion of the 14th Brigade, originally from Bat Yam.

Also mentioned is Sergeant Danila Diakov, 21, from Maale Adumim; Sergeant Yahav Maayan, 19, from Modiin, and Sergeant Eliav Astuker, 19, from Ashdod, all three being members of the 931st Battalion of the Nahal Brigade.

The soldiers died from the explosion of an explosive device planted by “terrorists” and from “gunshots” in Beit Hanun, in the north of the Palestinian enclave.

In recent weeks, Israeli forces have intensified the military offensive against the Gaza Strip, particularly in the case of the north of the Palestinian enclave.

The official toll of soldiers killed in operations against the Gaza Strip until January 9 was 831. The figure includes the 396 soldiers killed since the beginning of the land invasion of the Palestinian enclave.
