Four dead after a boat with immigrants capsizes in the English Channel – French Maritime Prefecture

() – Four people died after a boat carrying migrants capsized off the coast of Boulogne-sur-Mer, in northern France, early Friday morning, according to a statement from the French maritime prefecture.

The statement indicates that a patrol boat “intervened immediately,” and adds that three more boats, including a fishing boat that was in the area, and a helicopter collaborated in the rescue operation.

According to the statement, some people were drifting in the water, while others were clinging to the boat.

63 people were rescued and taken ashore to receive medical attention, the statement added.
