Former PlayStation boss regrets closure of PixelOpus

Although several companies will not go to gamescom 2022, Ubisoft confirms attendance

This weekend, the PixelOpus PlayStation studio was closing its doors soon. A lot of followers of the brand and fans of the games of the Californian study regretted the news and among them is one of the most important managers that PlayStation has had.

We refer to Shawn Layden, former head of SCE Worldwide Studios (now known as PlayStation Studios). Although this manager left the company several years ago (to be succeeded by Jim Ryan), he had the opportunity to work closely with PixelOpus and was primarily involved with the studio’s latest project, Concrete Genie.

Former PlayStation boss was hurt by the closure of PixelOpus

Through his Twitter account, Layden confessed that he resented the announcement and remembered how much he loved working with PixelOpus and seeing how it evolved while developing his projects.

Layden jumped at the opportunity to extol the studio’s qualities, especially the “culture of support, inclusion and challenge.”

“I’m not going to lie, it hurts deep. I loved working with this team and seeing them level up to launch the genre-shaking game Concrete Genie, all while maintaining a culture of support, inclusion, and challenge. Now a new adventure awaits. Only the best for each member of the team”, said the former director of Sony.

In case you missed it: PlayStation fans miss Shawn Layden.
