Former British Prime Minister David Cameron argues that Charles III will be a “brilliant” king

Carlos III will meet this Saturday with the ministers of the new British Government

LONDON, Sep. 11 (DPA/EP) –

Former British Prime Minister David Cameron has stated in an interview that will be broadcast this Sunday on the BBC that Charles III will become a “brilliant” king after the “longest apprenticeship in history”, referring to the fact that the current monarch has arrived to the throne at the age of 73.

Cameron has revealed that when he occupied 10 Downing Street he had audiences with the then Prince of Wales so that he could prepare for the day when, as monarch, he would hold weekly meetings with the prime minister.

“I had audiences with Prince Charles when Queen Elizabeth II was on the throne because he wanted to start thinking about how to conduct those audiences,” Cameron told BBC’s Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg.

“From what I saw, he will be brilliant at that job: brilliant at listening, asking questions, giving wise advice. This has probably been the longest apprenticeship in history,” the former prime minister said.

In this sense, Cameron has pointed out that, like his predecessor, the new king will be a “superb diplomat” and has predicted that he will prove to be a “very worthy successor.”

“I saw him in action at Commonwealth heads of government meetings and he knows everyone personally, interacts with them brilliantly,” he said.

Thus, he considers that “he is well prepared and, without a doubt, he will withstand the task that lies ahead”, he stressed.
