It is an initiative promoted by the parish of Santo Rosario de Warispura. Around 3,000 people have participated in it. Bishop Inderias Rehmat: “When we dedicate time to it, the holy book blesses us in different ways.”
Faisalabad () – In the parish of the Holy Rosary of Warispura, for 10 years the tradition of completing the reading of the Bible during Lent has been maintained. This year, once again, the local St. Jerome Bible study group began the reading from the book of Genesis on Ash Wednesday and yesterday, after 43 days, completed the reading of the last chapters of Revelation.
Bishops, priests, nuns, catechists, teachers, students and activists participated in the initiative, making a total of almost 3,000 people. The Bishop of the Diocese of Faisalabad, Monsignor Inderias Rehmat, also participated in the meeting last night.
“I am very grateful to the bishop for supporting us in every step we have taken in our parish,” said Father Pascal Paulus, parish priest of Holy Rosary Church. “We invited many churches in the city to participate so that people of different denominations could read the Bible together for His glory and happiness. Lent teaches us about prayer, charity, unity and mutual love, and all these teachings come from of reading the Holy Bible.”
“We believe in unity,” the priest continued, “and we will continue to organize these events to bring people closer to peace. I am very grateful to the St. Jerome Bible study group and to all who helped the church and read the Bible during Lent.”
Addressing the participants, Bishop Rehmat said: “First of all, I congratulate you for having completed the Bible reading during Lent, it is undoubtedly a great initiative of this parish. I am very pleased to inform you that other parishes in Faisalabad and other dioceses follow them and read the Bible in Lent. The Bible is vast and contains many messages for humanity. Every time we read the Bible, we learn new things that help us lead our lives in peace. When we dedicate time to sacred book, blesses us in many ways, illuminates our soul, our interior, and brings peace to our lives”.
In an interview with Abrar Sahotra, head of the St. Jerome Bible study group, stated: “In our group we read the Bible three days a week, but 10 years ago we started this initiative by also opening a Facebook page, ‘The Bible is life'” , where you can follow the readings live during Lent.
“Even people who are sick and cannot come to church participate from home, watching the Bible study meetings. We announce the activities in the church and do door-to-door visits in our community, so that more and more people can participate and receive blessings.” Sahota highlights the great benefits that the believers have received: “They have learned many new things and say they feel calmer. This is our mission, to attract more people to the church and build peace between the different communities through the study of the Bible “.
