Flavor Flav claims his holiday spirit was broken when NBC officials allegedly kicked him out of the Backstreet Boys’ dressing room at the Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting in New York on Wednesday night.
The Christmas extravaganza featured a host of celebrities welcoming the festive season, including the popular boy band and Kelly Clarkson, who hosted the event.
But despite the joy the event generated, the rapper alleged that he was confronted by security when he was backstage to meet with the Backstreet Boys.
“I feel weird… they invited me to the Rockefeller tree lighting tonight and they accompanied me to see my boys… THE BACKSTREET BOYS… and we were backstage in their dressing room… security came up to me and said: @nbc doesn’t want me in this area and I need to leave,” the “Fight The Power” hitmaker, 65, wrote on X in a now-deleted post.
“At the same time… his social media wife reached out and asked to capture social content.”
“What did I do to NBC or anyone else? “Everything I do is try to spread joy and love… and I think I did that for NBC at the Olympics,” he added, referencing his work with NBC during this year’s Paris Olympics.
The “Bring the Noise” rapper soon deleted the heated post, but quickly followed up with a second.
“I deleted the tweet… but my spirit is broken,” he wrote on another post.
The Post has reached out to NBC and representatives for the Backstreet Boys for comment.
Flavor Flav, whose real name is William Drayton Jr., said the band spoke for him for sure, but he was later seen staring at the towering 74-foot Norway Spruce lighting up the Manhattan sky in the crowd.
“Christmas in the city is nothing like lighting the Rockefeller tree,” he said.
Thousands of visitors from across the country and abroad queued for hours hoping to catch a glimpse of the famous tree.
When the tree lights were turned on at 10 p.m., a choir sang “Joy to the World.”
Clarkson sang her hit holiday song “Underneath the Tree,” while the Backstreet Boys performed “The Christmas Song” by the Nat King Cole Trio, as well as “Last Christmas” by Wham!
Among the performers, Jennifer Hudson sang a jazz rendition of “Winter Wonderland” from the rooftop of Radio City Music Hall.
Coco Jones, Grammy winner They also came on stage, in addition to Thalía and Raye. The iconic Radio City Rockettes also performed.
